About

One person, and that’s the point.

I’m Daniel. I run commercial for United Sports Group in Christchurch, which is two football clubs, an academy, a gymnastics club, a tournament, social leagues, a print shop and a venue. Ten brands, ten full-time staff, and around 8,700 families on the books.

A few years ago every one of those brands ran on a different piece of rented software, and none of them talked to each other. Nobody could answer a question as basic as how many nine-year-olds were enrolled. So I built the thing that could answer it: registrations and payments, contracts, marketing, staff messaging, stock, the vehicle fleet, hiring, and a decade of payment history migrated in and reconciled to the cent.

That’s the whole reason this studio exists. I didn’t come out of an agency, I came out of running a business that needed better software than it could buy. Which means when you describe the thing your front desk does forty times a day, I already know why it matters and roughly what it costs you.

Conscious Studio does that for other businesses now. Websites first, because that’s usually the most visible problem and the fastest to fix. Then whatever sits behind it, which is where the money actually leaks: the booking platform charging 3% of every seat, the salon software taking a fifth of what a new client spends, the checkout quietly selling one product at two different prices.

I take a small number of projects at a time. There’s no account manager and nothing gets handed to a team you haven’t met. You get me, which is a real constraint on how much work I can take and the reason the work is any good.

Half an hour, and you’ll know if I’m any use.
